Don Isbell

West Point, 1955

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by James H. Ryan on May 5, 1999:

Don Isbell was a very pleasant, and very private, person. I met him through his brother Charlie who graduated from The Naval Academy. Don and his first wife Pat, and my wife Pat and I went to the beach together in North Carolina. On another occasion, we were out together in a restaurant in Yorktown, Virginia, when Don had a seizure due to his having eaten a food he was allergic to. The emergency crew took him to the hospital where he had a near-death experience. We joined him there as he recovered. Later, we went our separate ways, and we lost touch with each other. Don did make a visit to us when we lived in Washington, DC, but we never saw him again. Don was a very pleasant person with a good sense of humor. He was a good father. Anyone who knew him really well liked him. We miss him.
