Be Thou At Peace

| I was BG Bradford's Aide-de-Camp when he was the Assistant Division Commander (Maneuver) of the Bayonet Division (7th ID). Never was there a more dignified, compassionate yet tough leader! He treated my wife and me with so much respect, even though we were so young and I was a Lieutenant. He included us in things just for our edification--for example, when the Vice Chairman of NATO came to visit Fort Ord and BG Bradford, he and his wife ensured we were included in their personal dinner and his itinerary. He gave me an opportunity to view and understand Big Army (Division and Corps) that few junior officers ever have. That served me very well! He loved soldiers and soldiering!
