Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Samuel L Brinkley on August 16, 2007:

My father was an absolutely amazing man who lived a full and rich life. He lived by the motto, Duty-Honor-Country, something that West Point had instilled in him and that he believed with every fiber of his being. He is the most honest and loving man I have ever known. He served his country in: Guam, Viet Nam, Germany, France and throughout these United States. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving 20 years in the Military. He was a Vice President of a large chemical company in Oregon, and was generally successful in everything he did. He put me through college and my brother all the way through medical school. He was married to my Mom, Ruth H. Brinkley, for 47 loving years. He raised two sons. He is survived by his wife - Ruth, his two sons - Samuel and Blane III, my brothers wife Deanna and four beautiful grandsons to carry on the Brinkley name: Benjamin Luther, Nicholas Francis, Alexander Henry and his namesake, Charles Blane the 4th. He will be greatly missed by his family and by anybody’s life he touched, and he touched so many lives. For me, Dad will always be my hero, "My Soldier-Father-Friend". I love you Dad. Your son, Sam
