Be Thou At Peace

Posted by scott smith on December 1, 2015:

Upon commissioning, Mark and I found we had a great deal in common. We roomed together during the Basic Course, then during Airborne School, when we went on our first troop assignments in Korea and still later when we returned to various assignments at Fort Campbell. I came to admire his positive attitude, his sense of humor, his constructive and good-natured way with officers and troopers alike, his interest in learning his profession, and his pride in the Army and what it stands for.

A few years later, my wife and I were extremely pleased that Mark had agreed to act as Best Man.

As we progressed in our careers, the Army's needs drew us apart but I continued to hear of Mark...as an advisor in Vietnam, as a battalion and then a brigade commander, and in various responsible staff jobs. He continued to excel and was always the subject of admiring remarks.

Mark Sisinyak was a dear friend and a soldier with whom I was truly honored to serve. RIP.
