Be Thou At Peace

(This is from Sam Lansings eulogy, with additions at end on NICK

Nick , Sam and I roomed together our last year 55-56.

Sam What a bright, innovative and fun person. He shared my love of classical music, and even help me tape some piano pieces over in Cullum Hall, on that magnificent Steinway given by Paderweski.(Now in the Library I believe) Our mutual roomate, Nick Bruno, was not so enthusiastic over the classics, so there was a contunual rush back from formations to see who got to the record player first. It going to be either GO MEN NO SAI /WAKE THE TOWN AND TELL THE PEOPLE, or Schuberts Ninth.

Such a mechanical genuis! From building his own WooFer and Tweeter
speaker system, to repairing the Iris on my German Eumig movie camera..No challenge too great.

Dont remember where it came from, he probably invented the name we had for each other."MacDuke". And Macduke always had a way to beat the system. Ken Lang (56) tells me that neither of them attend Chapel the entire last year.

And NICK..Really the intelligent one in the room, but he had to work so hard. Added to the usual pressures, in the fall, Nick always drug himself up those three flights after B Squad Practice, a little battered and bruised, but always game.

SO strong too. On his birthday, when the usual three or four plebes could haul a man down to the usual shower dunking, they came with seven.I have movies of it, and what a struggle..!!
