Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bob St. Louis on November 21, 2013:

It's hard to accept that Dave Moore won't be attending our C Dash One activities anymore because he has answered his last roll call.

When I was assigned to C-1 in 1952 at the tender age of 17, Dave Moore and Dale Pinkerton were my roommates. Dave was four years older than me, a former marine and in many ways, years more mature. He was a Godsend to help keep me on an even keel as I weathered the rigors of Plebe year. He was the friendliest guy I ever met and he stayed that way as we became 70+year olds. Whenever I needed steady counsel, Dave was there to dispense it to me. What a great guy!

At West Point, Dave was the man with the smirk, a real cutup. He ensured that we in C-1 kept the proper cadet attitude and didn't lose our perspective. He made putting up with all the minutiae that the Tactical Department could think up as something bearable and we loved him for it.

Dave has set a tough standard for the rest of us to meet having survived kidney failure, years of dialysis and a transplant. After all that, he still looked great and always had a smile on his face. He is an inspiration to all of us.

So, thanks Dave for being you; we will miss you so much!
