Be Thou At Peace

Posted by John Follansbee on August 1, 2023:

Tom Keeley was my friend. We had been friends since Plebe year. Tom advanced ultimately to be company commander of his company during first class year. He and I seemed to bump into each other all over the world. We both joined the 25th infantry division as infantry officers and in later years of our time there, we were both assigned from different battle groups to the division NCO Academy with desks opposite each other. We parted as we pursued different goals, but when I went to England to practice medicine there he was working and living in that country, and we found each other again.

What I would like to say about Tom is what a fantastic gentleman and friend he was. I don't think I know anyone who did not like him. It was a comfort to have him in England and to be my friend there, but ultimately he returned to the United States in recent years.

He was a fine officer and matchless friend, and I am deeply saddened at his passing. We have lost a significant member of the 1957 gang.
