Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Heather Eierman on July 7, 2011:

PRECIOUS - that head of just a few long hairs, that we combed as little girls and giggled about how there were so few.

OPTIMISTIC -- was he about his future, always planning a new trip across the world with the love of his life.

PASSIONATE - was he about our country, his wife, and his family, his grandchildren, and his friends.

PEACEFUL - was his smile that spread from ear to ear when he talked about his past adventures, his life, and his future.

OVERJOYED -- was he when the family united around the game table to play Scrabble and card games, beer at hand.

PRICELESS -- was his infectious high-pitched giggle that he so kindly passed on to his granddaughter.

My POPPOP -- I am proud to say has shared these amazing characteristics with us all: friends, family, and strangers alike. Death brings along with it sadness and pain. But, the more we reminisce on the life of my PopPop, the more we all learn to cherish the memories we create in life and to concentrate on the importance of creating more. So let us not be sorrowful, but instead be overjoyed that we have a prime example of how to live life enjoyably and without regret. I love you PopPop, and your heartwarming presence will remain within me always. I trust that you will help lead us all through a similar, amazing life journey.
