Peter J. Chittick:
LIEUTENANT COLONEL (RET.) PETER J. CHITTICK (Age 82) passed away on January 7, 2016 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was born in Washington, DC on August 23, 1933, spent his boyhood in McLean, Virginia and later Clinton Corners, New York. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950, was accepted into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and graduated with the Class of 1957. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Colonel after 23 years of service to our nation. He and his family then moved to Blacksburg in 1978, where he attended the Virginia Polytechnic Institute. In 1982, Pete and his family then resettled in Middleburg, Virginia where he remained for 33 years. He rejoined the workforce at EDS, SAIC and BDM where he continued to serve his country as a civilian. He left retirement again and delivered flowers for the family-owned Middleburg Floral Gallery. He retired for the third time and moved to Fredericksburg, Virginia in 2015. He was a Mason, a member of the Lion's Club, a longtime supporter of the Ronald McDonald House, and he made weekly deliveries for Seven Loaves Food Bank in Middleburg.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Geraldine Hunt of Poughkeepsie, New York, and their four children: Shaun Chittick of Chesapeake, VA, J. Loreen Chittick Hitch of Glen Allen, VA, Jeri Lee Thomas of Reston, VA, Linda Beck of South Orange, NJ; and by 7 wonderful grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Friday, January 15 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Royston Funeral Home, 106 East Washington Street, Middleburg, VA, followed by a reception and Celebration of Life from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Reception Hall, directly across East Washington Street from the funeral home. Pete will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery in the spring of 2016. The family requests contributions be made in Peter's name to the Ronald McDonald House.
