Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Palmer McGrew on July 28, 2017:

Upon arriving rather late to Beast, I was assigned with two classmates already there: Tim McLean and Bob Meals. Turned out in his poop school he was called Munch, but I think it never caught on in our class.

Bob had spent years in military school and knew a lot of important stuff, like shoe polishing, which became a huge part of our lives. He and Tim also knew that the next morning when the Hell Cats were playing reveille we needed to fall out for the formation. I stood at the window glorying in the playing of music for us.

Bob's father was an Air Force colonel and Bob intended to follow in his footsteps, which he did. He wasn't a gregarious person and, at least in Beast, he stayed pretty much to himself. Then he was assigned to K-2, while Tim went to E-1 and I to I-2. We all hoped to get assigned to K-2, known as Kappa Dos fraternity. Alas!

I hope some of the Kappa Dos "brothers" will add to this.
