Carl White Sullinger, 82, of Saratoga, California, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Monday, June 5, 2017.

Carl is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan; his two sons, Jayson and Scott; and his two grandsons, Matthew and Max.

Carl was born on August 15, 1934 in Monett, Missouri to Carl Oren and Marjorie (White) Sullinger. As the only child of a U.S. Army officer, Carl's childhood was filled with many moves across the country and overseas. Upon receiving a station assignment in Germany, the family moved and Carl spent two years attending the American High School in Frankfurt, before returning to complete his diploma at his hometown high school in Monett.

Carl graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1958. Upon earning his Master�s Degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania, Carl returned to West Point where he instructed cadets for three years.

Carl served two tours in Vietnam and received four bronze stars. After earning the rank of Lt. Colonel, he retired from the Army in 1978, and pursued a successful corporate career in Silicon Valley, working for BAE Systems (formerly FMC and United Defense) for 30 years. Before his retirement in 2008, Carl was a Senior Program Manager on the Bradley Fighting Vehicle (M7 "BFIST" variant) and the ambush protected vehicle for SOCOM (RG-33).

Carl was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, where he joined his father who was buried at Arlington in 1983. A grave-side service was held on Tuesday, August 15th.
