Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Darryle "Sam" Kouns Class of 1960 on August 21, 2011:

Dear Sandy and Al,
I am truly sorry about your recent loss of my friend Don. Although he and I had not communicated in numerous years Don remained one of my most favorite friends anywhere.

Our one year of close contact was when he as the West Point Basketball Captain brought a group of young Yearling players together and molded us into a winning varsity team. He taught us what leadership and character really meant and installed a permanent sense of hard work and fair play which has remained throughout our years following, whether military or civilian. And Don accomplished these things with a smile om his face and very few harsh words. Simply put he taught us what it meant to be a man and a mentor!

After this present period of reflection, sadness and a necessary celebration of Don's wonderful life, I wish you and yours all the very best in the world.

Sincerely,
Sam Kouns, 1960
