Warren Rubel

West Point, 1958

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Pete Kusek '58 on June 30, 2005:

Warren Rubel went through a couple of name changes and so it was hard to keep track of his whereabouts. At West Point he was Israel Wrubel (called Iz or Izzy), then later became (I think) I. Warren Wrubel, and finally Warren Rubel. By any name though, he was an interesting guy. Our first assignments were in the same Nike battalion in northern Virginia and Iz had already made up his mind to put in his 3 years and go off into the business world. To this end he began working on an MBA during that first assignment. A LT at a Nike site required some long hours so I don't know where he found the time to study and go to class but he did and he didn't let the school work interfere with his duties. At the end of his 3 years Iz left the Army, went into the business world, and I never saw him again. Too bad because we had a lot of catching up to do.
