Brigadier General William Guy Ganey, 79, of Fairfax Station, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at his residence. He was the loving husband of his wife, Angela Ganey.

William was born on September 21, 1935 in New York. A graduate of The West Point Military Academy, he also obtained degrees from The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (MBA), The Amos Tuck Business School, Dartmouth College, The Harvard School of Government and The International College of the Armed Forces (ICAF). After a long and successful career in the US Army, Bill retired as a Brigadier General. After his military career, Bill worked for Mercuri Urval as a consultant for over 10 years.

Along with his wife Angela, William is survived by their children: Kathleen Lear, and her husband William, and William S. Ganey, and his wife Leighia; and two grandchildren: Schuyler Lear and Alexandra Ganey, his two sisters: Jacqueline Ganey and Jill Sullivan and her husband Jeffery Sullivan; his brother, Evan Ganey and his wife Linda Ganey; The family is also very grateful to Patience Addo from Ready Hands and Capitol Caring for their continued support and care.

A funeral service with full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United States Military Academy at West Point Superintendent's Annual fund, checks made out to WPAOG, please list in the memo "In Memory of Brigadier General William Ganey -- Superintendents Annual Fund".
