Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Barrie Grozier on April 23, 2021:

I was born and raised in Berwick,Pa. We(my parents, 3 brothers and a sister) lived in a 3 family house and the Warner
family lived in one of the units.

I was born in 1940 so Dick was 4 years older than me but about the same age as 2 of my brothers.

For some reason I got the urge tonight to see if I could find some information about Dick and I ended up here at West-Point.org.

When Dick and my brothers were hanging out I would sometimes tag along. The thing that stuck with me all these years was the way Dick ate cake. Whenever we were over at his place we seemed to always have cake and Dick would take his piece and stuff it into a glass of milk and stir it up and drink it down.

My oldest brother and I both went to Penn State, he graduated the same year that I was starting, 1957. That football season he and I went to the Army game because we knew Dick was playing on the Army team. We accepted the defeat graciously.

I've read the other eulogies and can see that Dick(Red) was recognized for the nice person that he was. After college I moved to the Binghamton NY area where I raised a family of 5 kids. Over the years I've often wondered what Dick was doing and this evening has given me a good idea.

Dick, I always enjoyed the times when I was hanging out with you those many years ago, thanks for your service, thanks for your friendship and to your service buddies, thanks for your service and for being such great friends for Dick.

God Bless you all and God Bless the Military.
