Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Linda S. Matthews on February 22, 2009:

Fred. I did not know you personally, but we communicated in the last years of your life about our common ancestors. You knew my grandmother, Anne America Perkins Scruggs, who was your grandmother's sister. When I served in Berlin with the Army, I visited the Airlift Memorial located, I believe, at Tempelhof. Your Dad, Fred Easley, had served in the Berlin Airlift and I contacted you for any information that you might have about his service. My grandmother spoke of you often and had your West Point graduation/commission announcement in her scrapbook. I know that she would join me in heartfelt appreciation for the proud and honorable service that you and your Dad gave to this country. May you rest in peace and may God always bless your family. Linda
