RIP Walt. I have fond memories from high school when you were the top cadet and battalion commander of the Pt Loma High School Battalion and when you won the Best Drilled Cadet Competition as a junior at the San Diego ROTC Regimental Field Day in 1952. Your were one sharp cadet, a model for all of us, and I enjoyed competing with you. When I learned that you had joined the Class of 1959, I urged Captain George S. Patton, our Tac, to get you assigned to Company A-2 because of your exemplary ROTC service. He got you and that delighted me. I regret that we never served together after graduation, but I am sure that you had a distinguished career and contributed much to your men, units, and the Army. God bless and keep you.
