I met Gene at Camp Buckner and got to see him often around campus, on class trips, etc. His being a flanker and I a runt and being in different regiments, we had no classes together. Unfortunately I did not get to serve with him after graduation. He was one of the friendliest people I have ever known. I was deeply saddened to learn of his passing.
