Peter Siedzick

West Point, 1962

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by BG RM Ong (Ret) on July 2, 2016:

Pete was one year ahead of me at West Point. We were both in Company E-2. He was a bright young man -- he wore academic stars on his collar, showing that he was in the top 5% in his class. I remember him as a tall, slim fellow, with an easy smile and a cheerful word for everybody around him.

Pete was a quiet guy, who never bothered harassing us Plebes, except when he was duty-bound to do so as as part of his "Plebe-Chaser" duties, when tasked to do so. Otherwise, he kept himself busy, tutoring his classmates and the rest of the underclassmen in the Company.

We parted ways after his graduation and our paths never crossed again. I have often wondered what happened to him. It is sad to know that another E-2 member has passed away, but I think that he is in a better place now and will remain so for all eternity.

And now, my final salute to a nice guy and a great E-2 Dawg!
