Be Thou At Peace

I am indeed saddened to learn that one of my good friends has passed away. Ralph and I belonged to different Regiments -- and our barracks were far from each other -- but somehow, we did meet and became good friends during our 4 years together. I remember him as a sharp fellow, quick-thinking and eager to tackle the problems and challenges of life. After Graduation Day, our paths never crossed again. He went on to serve his country and I served mine. We were in Vietnam together, but somehow, Ralph was not among the few classmates I met there. We did connect via the Internet, long after we were both retired. I was glad to renew friendships and exchange ideas with him once more. I had hope to meet him during our 40th and 50th Class Reunions at West Point, but I don't think he attended them. I shall not forget a guy like Ralph -- brilliant, poised and alert.
