David, it has been more than 45 years since that fateful day in November 1965. Your memory has never left me. I only knew you for a month, but time didn't make a difference. And all these years I ask: "Why David and not me?" God hasn't answered that question yet, but maybe he spared me so that I might write about 8 November 1965. Other than that, I have no way to understand all that has happened. Captain Daniel is gone, LTC Tyler is gone and only a small group of us are still around, but your memory will live on with me. We were brothers in arms and that is all that matters. Airborne David, All the Way! |
