Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bob Magruder on April 24, 2001:

Mike and I were blessed to be part of the lost fifties in Company G2 our first two years at USMA. Didn't see much of Mike Plebe year as I was always getting special care and feeding and he was so sharp as a plebe. We got to know each other yearling year as roommates. Mike tried to help me with academics and as a result his own grades seemed to suffer to some extent. He worked hard to do well in Russian and I am certain that I was partly the cause of him achieving less than he desired academically. His mature presence always seemed to give him an aura of confidence. His deep booming voice was always admired. I was sorry that I never took voice lessons from him. Mike was destined for greatness in the military and all of his classmates knew he was a natural for it. He will not be forgotten.
