Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jon Dale Hollabaugh, Colonel, USMCR(Ret), USNA 1957 on May 9, 2016:

Dwight worked with me both in the USMC and at the (then) Naval Electronics Laboratory Center (NELC). While he was younger than me (~5 years), he was a 'heckofalot' SMARTER than me! In the Marine Corps, we maintained the readiness of the 4th Tank Battalion, USMC Reserves. Concurrently, and together, with some wonderful support from our officemates, Janet, Sharon, Bob, Bob (USMC WWII) and Jerry CDR USNR)(last four deceased) - we established a Marine Corps Program Office there with the Navy on Point Loma and we gave the active Marine Corps some wonderful support during the seven years or so in which our office operated, and until NELC changed its name and mission to the Naval Ocean Systems Center (NOSC). While it lasted, we were quite a team, but Dwight's intelligence and manner were at the core of our success. A few more years passed and we retired from the Corps and went our separate ways after NOSC, and Dwight put his keen mind to work for the electronics and surveillance systems division of the Lockeed Martin Corporation until he passed, after extended injuries resulting from an accidental fall. We and our families were friends until his accidental demise.

Seriously, a fine man and friend to all who knew him. RIP

Jon Dale Hollabaugh
