Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Alan Russo on September 14, 1999:

Joe--

Your classmates remembered you at a memorial service and at your gravesite last Friday, 10 September. I put flowers near your marker. It was a somber and fitting ceremony. Sam Lamback and Lanny Fly delivered the eulogies to you and 51 others.

Joe, Chet Kempinsky and I were roommates Plebe Year in the Fall of 1960. We were kids and full of life. Invulnerable and invincible to life's threats.

You survived Vietnam only to be claimed by an automobile accident as you drove home after leaving active duty.

The phrase "What a waste?" could not be more accurate.

I have a lot to thank you for, Joe. I will always be doing just that -- saying "Thank You."

Rest in Peace.
