Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Roger F. Yankoupe on February 6, 2017:

Dick Puckett was for me one of the true gems of my cadetship at West Point. Dick's first two years at the Academy were spent in C-1, and mine in D-1. Needless to say, Dick's keen sense of humor, genuine caring attitude, and sincere interest in others were welcome respite from the rigors of D-1 plebe and yearling existence.

Upon graduation, Dick's departure for the Air Force deprived many of us with the opportunity to continue to nurture, grow and sustain that comradeship with him through the active duty years. In the few encounters we did have, I was delighted to find the same old hand of friendship we enjoyed in the beginning.

More recently, the retired years have provided a much better opportunity to fully appreciate the depth of Dick's knowledge, keen mind, great and dry sense of humor and willingness to strive for the good of us all. We will miss our comrade but never forget this fine officer and human being.

Well done, thou good and faithful servant...thanks for being there for the rest of us when we needed it.
