Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Dave Stepek on August 10, 2003:

Today, Kevin Murphy, Andy Dykes and I attended Tom's funeral ceremony at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Andy brought a digital camera with him, and photos were shot of Tom's family, including his three sons and a daughter. His brother Glenn ('57) was there, and his first wife, Camille (who many of you remember was Tom's full time date during almost all four years at WP). Cancer came and got him quickly.

You know that Beth and I just moved back to California last year at this time, after living five years in Alpharetta, GA. Tom lived a few miles away in Acworth, and our paths never crossed. Spent some time with the Stapletons, Robertsons, Smiths, Murattis, Brink Millers, Ballaghs, Brinkmans and so forth. I guess I felt a little guilty that I hadn't tried harder to touch base with him during that time. Admonition from one who has no room to be critical: If you have the chance to touch hands with someone, who was your friend among the Long Gray Line years ago, you will probably regret it one day when one of you is no longer here. Gordon Thomas Rhoades, be thou at peace.
