I met Jack shortly after he graduated from WP, when he was assigned to Ft Lewis, WA. He was my "blind date" arranged by a friend. He called me and came to pick me up at my parent's home. However, he arrived on a motorcycle. My Dad was horrified-concerned for my safety....but I took off with Jack-unbeknownst at how very MUCH, my Dad was against it. Upon my return he forbade me going out with Jack if it was his only mode of transportation...so-last date. The next West Pointer I met was my present husband, Bob Magruder. He showed up in a new Chevy Impala. Dad was thrilled! But Jack never forgot it! He always told me I was his first love...many times in front of Sam- who thought it was a hoot! The four of us had/have been best of friends ever since. How VERY VERY much we will miss him- if ever there was a person who totally embraced life...it was Jack! Heaven will SO enjoy his crazy/fun-filled personality..... Miss you, Jack! |
