Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jim Daly on May 10, 2007:

I had the good fortune to room with Warren and Podge Reed for one semester each of our first two years. He loved his guitar, singing in the glee club and skydiving. Warren and I traveled by train to the Army-Airforce football game in Chicago, he as a glee club member and me as a Rabble Rouser. His singing and playing in the club car earned us free drinks from admiring civilian travelers. He often found solace in his music during periods of stress that we so often faced. His outlook on life was relatively calm and he seldom "sweated" the small stuff.

He arrived at West Point from the Milwaukee area and stated loudly on one occasion that Podge from LA and me fom ME were at 33 rpm and 78 rpm, respectively, and that since he was at 45 rpm, he could not understand either of us.

The world will be a lesser place without him, but the heavenly choir will be improved.

Rest in peace, Warren.
