I'm David Nanstad, Randy's son. I could not have had a better Dad and friend, always there for me during times of struggle or times of celebration. Selfless, always putting his family ahead of himself in all things. Providing the best example of what it means to be a father, friend, man, colleague, son, brother, friend, and human being. I could always count on my Dad to pick up the phone no matter when I called and would find a reassuring voice, with all attention on how he could help. Dad, I miss you dearly but hear your voice and will strive to live the best life that you worked so hard to ensure that me, my sisters, and mom could have. I'll be there for my mother, sisters, wife, and family like you were and are for me, and will help them whenever and however I can. I'll will be the best example for your soon to be born grandson and hope that thru me he'll get to know you and feel your love.

I love you, your son Dave.

PS I'm posting Dad's eulogy to Dad's personal website https://www.west-point.org/users/usma1964/25272/ on behalf of his wife Sonya and his daughters Lisa and Rachel in case any of his classmates should care to read it. He loved and respected his West Point friends and fellow classmates and we wanted to thank all of you that spent time with Dad over Zoom calls during his illness and attended his funeral at Arlington. It meant so much to me and his family.
Dave
