Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jim Daly on March 15, 2000:

I got to know Roger a little when he, Bob Bolen and I were roommates in E-1 for one semester yearling year.

Roger was near the top end in age in our class and seemed a little bit more sophisticated or mature than a lot of us. Perhaps it seemed that way because he was quiet.

One spring dat between classes Roger along with me and several others went to the roof of central barracks where we lived for a some extra-curricular sunbathing. I, of course got a bit red, but Rog was tan in about 15 minutes.

Somewhere I have a picture of me, Roger, and Podge Reed at my folks place at Higgins Beach in Scarborough, Me. We are easily distinguishable from a few scrawny fish that we caught. If I can find it, I will send it to Jack Price for posting.

I liked Roger and was saddened by news of his death. Though he did not start with the Class of 1964, he was a well liked asset to our ranks.

Well done,Roger. Be thou at peace.
