Dave was one of the highly interesting people in our class. He had a flair for the dramatic yet also had an intense sense of the inner person and an inquiring mind; a man of great contrasts, capable of dealing nearly simultaneously with the ethereal and the basic, the military and the completely un-military. We conversed from time to time but I didn't get to really know him until a church conference at the start of our first class year, when the two of us had the opportunity to talk into the wee hours. We shared some insights about God and faith that have continued to be valuable to me, and I helped him through a hard incident later in the year. During that time I got to know his parents, and his mother very graciously attempted to find a wife for me over the next few years! We lost contact soon after graduation and I regret not having the opportunity to compare notes as "old guys".
