Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Marty Michlik on April 19, 2006:

Buddy and I were in K-2 together our last two years at West Point. There are a couple of things that stand out most in my memory from those years. He was an incredibly talented writer. Most of us would labor over a writing assignment, drafting and redrafting in pencil, until we were finally ready to do the final version in ink. Buddy would wait until the night before, do his first and only version in ink, and get a higher grade than any of us. As most know, Buddy wrote and produced the 100th Night Show our First Class year. I had a minor job supporting the production and was able to witness his mastery of the entire project. Then, of course, was the Aston Martin. It was, I think, besides Gwen, the most important thing in his life. It was almost as if it had a life and personality of its own. Perhaps it did. I was in Buddy and Gwen's wedding, almost immediately after graduation, an event which I can still vividly picture in my mind. Buddy spent the entire time I knew him in love with Gwen. He was a talented classmate and friend.
