| I knew Captain Hayward for only a short period of time during the summer of 1968. He was our CO in Bravo Company, 1/5th Mech while we were outside Dau Tieng, Tay Ninh Province, RVN. He asked no more of his men than that which he himself was capable of doing. I doubt that there were many COs as fair or as just as he was. He truly was an excellent commander and a good man, respected and loved by his men. |
