| Dave was my mentor, my commander, my friend and one of the finest men I ever knew. I met him in Vietnam while he was our Bn S-3. When I rotated from the field he selected me as his assistant and I learned more about leadership in those few months working for Dave then any other period in the Army. When I returned to the states I stayed with Dave and Jane (and Gavin, their dog) while attending Jump School. I have often thought of Dave and Jane and the kids and hope I have lived a life Dave would have been proud of. Dave was the best I ever knew. |
