John - it has been a long time since you, Nancy, Betty Ann and I were stationed together in Germany. I still have some pictures of us in 1965.I hope your gallantry in Viet Nam will never be forgotten, and the Vietnamese you advised learned a lesson about never leaving your soldiers on the battlefield. I was priviledged to be your escort when you were brought back to West Point for internment. I will never, never forget escorting Nancy to the funeral home for her last, personal goodby. Her love for you was so powerful and I felt so fortunate to have known both of you. Your son won't remember me, but I saw him at our 20th reunion. You would be proud of him. Anyway, old buddy, rest in peace. I think of you often. Frank |
