Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Joe McChristian, Jr. on March 17, 2020:

Duncan, It was an honor and an inspiration to stand shoulder to shoulder with you on so many occasions throughout our First Class year. Marching down the aisle together in the Cadet Chapel at the start of Sunday services, or standing on the Plain reviewing a full dress parade of the Corps, you always set a perfect example to which the rest of us on the Brigade Staff could only aspire. I hope you remember, with a touch of your quiet humor, when we were leading the Inaugural Parade for President Johnson how we held up the parade to insure that the first unit to lead past the Presidential reviewing stand would be the US Corps of Cadets. We had fun and shared pride together, whether it was in formal ceremonies or double dating at a football game. I already miss you terribly. My consolation is in knowing that you have gone on ahead to prepare the way and that we shall meet again someday. Until then, "Well done! Be thou at peace!"
