Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Officer Curt Fulton on January 2, 2024:

While talking stock of my possessions, I found a Bible that I purchased while a "camper" at Jumonville Methodist Camp, near Uniontown, PA. While I was there, I remember a cadet, John I. Alger, who was there for a while as a counselor. He was kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. While walking up the hill to the gigantic white cross on top, I remember using the front part of my feet/toes to traverse the steep climb. John noticed, and said to me, "use the whole foot, that way you'll use the stronger muscles of the upper leg, and less of the calf muscle". I'll never forget that advice and his kindness. As it turns out, I moved to NY shortly after that and worked at West Point Military Academy for a while. We live about 30 minutes from USMA and go there often. Now I know he's there and will make it a point to visit his resting place. May he rest in peace and I'm looking forward to seeing him on the "other side" in glory!
Sincerely,
Officer Curt Fulton
