Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bob Frank on July 23, 2021:

Ron Bailey, Bill Byrne and I were the front line for the L-1 waterpolo team our Plebe Year. Not only was Ron a strong swimmer, he had a long wing span and a powerful shot. It brought us the First Regiment championship. Our Yearling Year, Ron was often wrestling in the hall of New South Barracks during Release From Quarters with anyone who dared to take him on. His two favorite opponents were his roommate, Bill Byrne, and my roommate, John Olson. Strong does not begin to describe all three of them, but especially Ron. On the weekends, it was off to the handball courts. Ron was a sportsman. But he was also one of the kindest and most helpful of Classmates. Many years later, we served together at Ft. Leavenworth, where Ron showed his abilities as a home remodeler. He was a well-rounded guy who did his duty, helped his friends and proudly served his country. Farewell my friend! Be Thou At Peace.
