Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Emery J Chase on June 6, 2020:

I first got to know Frank in 1963 when we both moved to C-1 as part of the company scramble after Yearling year. The following year, as Firsties, we roomed together most of the year and I got to meet Cam. It took a little adjustment with her Dad being the Regimental Tac Officer! After graduation as we scattered on our separate ways, Frank was there as a saber bearer at my wedding to Eleanora in July 1965, we reciprocated at his and Cam's wedding the following December.
We next crossed paths at Fort Benning, Fort Leavenworth, Pentagon, Germany and in the DC metro area both when assigned and where we both ended up after retirement.
When we both completely retired and became empty nesters, we took advantage of fun activities. There never seemed to be enough opportunities to do all the things we wanted. Frank and Cam have been very special friends to Eleanora and me. That friendship has spanned more than 55 years. We have shared both highs and lows. When Eleanora had a stroke seven years ago, they were there to offer assistance and support. At our 55th when Eleanora had an adverse reaction to medication and I had to leave early, he offered to drive back to Virginia to bring me back (it was my Grandson's graduation and commissioning as well). He and Cam were always there.
We miss him all ready!
