Carl Robert Arvin

West Point, 1965

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Tom Abraham on October 25, 2009:

Bob Arvin was a wrestling teammate at Army, a friend, and a consumate gentleman. He exemplified the qualities of leadership, scholarship, and commitment to Army wrestling. That is why the Class of 1965 has sponsored an award every year since 1984 in the name of Carl Robert Arvin, awarded to the senior wrestler who best exemplifies those qualities. Bob was a great wrestler, always a good sport first, a winner second. He was a leader, and a good human being. On active duty, he continued to exemplify leadership and bravery. His two silver stars within a month during his tour in Vietnam are a testimonial to his bravery and leadership. Bob set the standard for Duty, Honor, Country, an example for all West Pointers to live up to. He was a young man destined to serve his country well for many years. Now he serves his God. Save me a place in the Long Gray Line, old friend. Of you, we can say "Well Done, Be Thou At Peace."

Thank you.
