Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Dick Gates on February 18, 2001:

Wayne and I met at a SAME National Meeting about 10 years ago. Even though we both had a full military career in the Army Corps of Engineers, we had never served together; however, we had many mutual friends. Wayne and I became partners in two of Wayne's final ventures, ORTech and The Ventura Group (TVG). He and I had set up a meeting a day before his death for the Saturday following his death. I am still trying to cope with the loss of a great friend and energetic partner while my heart goes out to his family during their loss.

Wayne was a great leader who lead by setting an example of professionalism, ethics and simply hard work for those around him. He became the major spark plug of energy for both ORTech and TVG Engineering Division. His friendly smile and attitude during our meetings helped us get over some difficult business problems. His people skills got for him the tough negotiation jobs which he carried out most effectively.

Susie and Brian had become active in our businesses together when required. We will miss not only Wayne's understanding and friendship, but the family teamwork.

Wayne has left the living, but will be with us in the long gray line as we grip hands.
