Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bob Frank on July 13, 2019:

Jerry and I were thrown together at the beginning of Cow Year as our Class was 'scrambled,' just like '64. We roomed together on the first floor of East Barracks just off the sally port. Turns out it was a wonderful location because we could wait until the last minute before dashing across the street to Electrical Engineering. Jerry needed those extra few minutes to look at the material because he had not previously cracked the book in preparation. Seems that Jerry had spent much of the night before playing bridge over in C-1. The good news was that he dragged me along as his bridge partner; the bad news was that I required more time with the EE books than he did. But, it was an extraordinary experience. Not only did I learn to play bridge (one of Ike's favored pastimes), but I got to spend a whole lot of time in Jerry's company. He was a brilliant guy, but one hardly knew it because he never took himself seriously. We used to laugh and have fun. Cow Year was a blast thanks to Jerry, and our neighbors Bob Radcliffe and Gary Kadetz. Jerry was another member of '65 who flew below the radar, but who accomplished great things in his life. Of Jerry, it can truly be said "Well done!" Rest in Peace, my friend.
