Lowery West was my 2nd Class (1963-64) West Point roommate, handball partner, Ranger Buddy, and close friend. We were in Company C-2 and lived on the 3rd floor facing Central Area during one of the best years of my life. After graduation we attended each other's wedding. (Actually I introduced Low to Betty White - his first wife - thru my Ladycliff contact, now Alice Kenny - wife of Pat our Class President and another former roommate of mine). After graduation we shared adjacent quarters at Camellia Apartments at Ft Benning while attending Ranger and Airborne School. We both served our initial active duty assignments together with the 3rd Armor Division in Germany where our first children were born, Unfortunately, that was the last time we actually saw each other despite similar parallel careers as Infantry Officers. We did maintain contact thru the mail for many years, and I will always remember him as an intensely competitive and scrupulously honest individual that I greatly respected. His passing is yet another sad loss to our class and the Long Grey Line.
