Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Daniel Duncan on June 5, 2016:

I fondly remember the great touch Football weekends at my parents house in Stamford, Connecticut. Mal & Mike & sometimes Chip Pickett & and Russell Starr would come over to stay the weekend and relax, and consume gallons of ice cream and watermelon. I was approximately seven to nine at the time, so having my older "warrior" cousins visit was a huge rush for me. They even let me play football with them.

Then they went off to war, and the fun ended. We praise our soldiers while they are able, but we tend to forget them when they are done. As the bard said: "To do corps for mankind is the chivalrous plan and is always nobly required. So battle for freedom wherever you can, and if not shot or hanged you'll get knighted."
