Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bob Frank on November 15, 2021:

I didn't know Doug as a cadet; I did know who he was. My impression of him was that he was a kind and serious guy, quiet for the most part. It was years later that I really got to confirm that impression by shear circumstance. On a visit to my sister and brother in law's home in Quechee VT, I had a chance meeting with Doug. In short order, I learned that he lived less than a mile away on Alden Partridge Lane. (Coincidentally, Partridge was a USMA Supe before Thayer. Not so coincidentally, Partridge founded Norwich University.) Anyway, Doug and I became even better acquainted when he volunteered from 2012 through 2014 to mentor cadets as part of the Professional Military Ethics Education program. Turns our that my favorable impression of him as a cadet seriously underestimated his grace, determination, and devotion to West Point and the Corps of Cadets. I was inspired by Doug's contributions to the future of the Long Gray Line and the Army. Well Done!
