Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Ron Walter on July 8, 2012:

Re-uniting in the Valley of the Sun with BJ Mogan after so many years was the highlight of my retirement experience. We had last seen BJ during our mutual assignments to West Point in the early 70's, and it was indeed a thrill to re-connect and to catch up on family and friends. Ever the gracious host and consummate Southern gentleman, BJ opened his home to all who would come for the first of what was to become an annual gathering of the Class of '65, and we enjoyed numerous outings for fine food, cultural enrichment and just plain fun over the next six years.

I last saw BJ as I visited him in the hospital about a month ago. We were able to speak once more on the phone after that visit, and while it was difficult to watch the pain and suffering that BJ was going through, I will always cherish those last conversations. Here was a man who was strong in his faith, comfortable in his relationship with the Lord, and ready to let God's will be done.

Be thou at peace.
