| Bernie and I were plebe roommates. He was an experienced and confident prep school guy and I was fresh off the farm and virtually clueless about things military. He patiently taught me more about being a cadet and staying out of trouble than anyone else I can remember. The man knew how to shine shoes!! His effervescent personality filled any room he entered. He was always game for a new experience and always attracted a following because he seemed to have a plan and knew how to have fun. His premature death was a crushing blow to all who knew him. |
