Mike O'Grady and I were roommates "Firstie" year. That was an interesting experience. Mike was the Company First Sergeant of E -- 2 in the first detail. This was also during football season. Mike asked me to be the room orderly for the semester because he had to play football too, so I did, which led to interesting conversations between me and the TAC, Cpt. Pete Lash - but it all work out. Mike was one of the smartest people I knew, and one of the most "laid back" people too. He was the best example of "not sweat" except about Football and boxing. His version of studying and getting ready for class was to read the New York Times cover to cover, he always did well in academics. Mike was a gentleman, a good friend and class mate, and a great football player too. I admired him and actually was somewhat in awe of his abilities and smarts. I wish I had been closer to him after graduation. Well done, Mike! |
