John Charles Thompson

West Point, 1965

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Daniel Christman on November 25, 2019:

John Thompson was life itself. No classmate cheered me up more in the depths of Ranger School exhaustion than JC. I still hear him, in the cold hootch of our mountain-phase hide-out, listening to a surreptitious broadcast of an Alabama football game and bringing us all the energy we need to get through the next patrol. And I still feel his unbounded, positive leadership style as a battalion Commander of an armor battalion, in the garrison where we commanded together in Wildflecken Germany. And my sides still ache at the jokes he'd tell in Spanish when he visited me as Supe - with a dozen Latin American dignitaries accompanying him, laughing at all the stories John would spin

Again, John was life itself. Linda and family, we will cherish this wonderful man forever. We miss him deeply.
