To John, Loyal friend, great team mate, always ready to help and contribute, pride in performing and yet humble in his achievements, uncompromising patriot, ready to give everything for his country, even until long past the age of well deserved retirement, loving family man for his wife, children and grandchildren, incredibly broad culture gathered and honed in his long and varied career throughout the globe, marvelous raconteur, capable of keeping his audience spellbound for hours without a trace of condescendence, marvelous sense of humor, honed with a sharp wit, capable of going to the heart of the matter in an instant, an expert in single malts always ready to share his knowledge, my own personal introducer to, and translator of, Boston accented English, a total novelty to a recent arrival from Costa Rica, always ready to help me out in a new culture, in a very new and demanding setting. John, you were my friend, I will miss you. |
